Hello! I’m Jennifer Coggins and I’m excited you’ve invited me into your home to work with your family. For me, family is one of the most important things in life. I was raised in Raleigh, NC with my parents and younger brother with Down syndrome. I learned a lot about early intervention from a very young age and watched my mother learn to advocate to find my brother the support he needed to succeed. Our family valued people of all abilities and this became very important to me as well.
I earned my BA in Psychology at Davidson College in 1997 and learned how much I enjoyed writing, reading, and learning. I later earned my MSW at UNC-CH in 2002 doing internships with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and also with Child Protective Services. I have worked with children who have been abused and neglected as well as in a medical setting where I earned my LCSW in 2008. I worked with teams of pediatricians to serve families in ways that supported good health both physically and emotionally.
I am excited to work with Carolinas Parenting Solutions as I believe working with families with young children in their home environment provides a wonderful opportunity to set achievable goals and make them reality. I long to see families enjoy one another and for children to be free to grow to their fullest potential.
When not working, I enjoy my own family, my husband and three young children, who have taught me more about the huge job description of parenthood than I ever dreamed existed. I love to be physically active outside, hiking, running, and exploring. I am passionate about helping my family and community live more healthfully, simply and wholeheartedly.
