My name is Amy Siverd and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Child and Family Therapist. I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee where I attended Belmont University earning my BBA. For the last 20 years our family of four has called Charlotte our home. During this time I earned my Masters of Social Work from Winthrop University while raising two children with my husband of 22 years.
I have worked with children and families in a variety of settings including in-home therapy, school-based, as well as in-patient hospital and emergency department facilities. I have experience treating anxiety, autism, developmental delays, attachment disorders, selective mutism and fetal alcohol syndrome. I believe in a relational, strengths-based approach to therapy using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, family system dynamics, attachment theory, and parent-child therapy.
Carolina Parenting is where I began my career many years ago and it is where I’ve returned with hopes of making a greater impact working with families and children in their natural environment. I believe being a parent or caregiver is one of the most difficult jobs, especially in today’s environment as we learn to navigate the ever changing challenges and needs of children growing up in a plugged-in world. My goal as a therapist is to work hand in hand with parents and caregivers to provide a safe and secure environment in which your child can flourish.
