“The soul is healed by being with children.”

-English proverb

We both want to help your child be the best he or she can be.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 8 years of experience.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the College of Charleston and a Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in Children and Families from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

I have a strong clinical background and have worked with children and adults of all ages individually, with their families, and in groups in a variety of settings including residential settings, in hospitals, in outpatient offices, and in the home.  I have had the opportunity to enhance my clinical skills by getting experience in a variety of areas including medical social work, case management, crisis intervention, and of course, counseling, all of which have helped to strengthen my ability to effectively work with children and families affected by developmental disabilities, behavioral and emotional health issues, adjustment issues and chronic medical conditions.

One thing that has always been an anchor for me, professionally and personally, is that I have always come back to working with children in some capacity, whether through employment or through volunteer work.  Children have the ability to humble and inspire and they have been the driving force in my work and are what drove me to this field.  I have a particular interest in attachment issues, separation anxiety, blended families, and parents and children struggling with adjusting to the changes that come with the ups and downs of life.  My interest in working with infants and very young children came from my time working with mothers and their newborns at a residential facility inMilwaukee,WIwhere I helped mothers adjust to being new moms while struggling with the reality of having a lack of support and resources.  My interest was strengthened during my work in a partial hospitalization program working with children, ages 4-10, who struggled with behavioral and emotional challenges.

I am passionate about working with children and parents and feel grateful to have the opportunity to be able to reach more people by working in their homes using therapeutic interventions tailored to each particular child and family.  All families that I work will find that I have a dedication to creating an empathic and non-judgmental relationship with children and their families, while acknowledging the family’s unique traits and needs from a strength based perspective.   My goal is to provide clear and honest communication while maintaining professionalism and adherence to the highest clinical standards at all times.  I look at the relationships I form as a team effort.  One can work without the other, but are most effective together.  You are the expert in regard to your child and I am here to support you and offer my skills, experience, and perspective in order for us to help your child be the best he or she can be on a developmental, social, and emotional level.  I am proud to be a part of the exceptional team of clinicians at Carolina Parenting Solutions and look forward to working with you and your family.
