Jessica Kossick, MSW, LCSW

I have always worked in community and home based settings with my clients and I feel this is the most effective treatment approach to seeing lasting change and to truly understand a child’s world.  I look forward to learning about each child and family’s unique strengths and the journey that has brought them to Carolina Parenting Solutions, PLLC.   You can expect to be greeted with compassion, understanding and warmth when working with me as I work to build a trusting, professional working relationship with each of my families.  I understand that it is not always easy to reach out and ask for help and I am honored to be welcomed into your home and view treatment as a “team” approach, learning as well from the experts (the parents).  I have loved being an infant mental health/child and family therapist with Carolina Parenting Solutions, PLLC for the past several years.

My passion for working with small children shines through while providing infant mental health and child and family therapy with my clients.  I love to use humor to create a relaxed, pleasurable environment for my families as well as implementing strong clinical skills to build a trusting relationship to help facilitate change.  What is most rewarding and necessary is involving the parents and child’s family during therapy sessions to observe their love and strong bond with their children.

I have worked with children of the ages 0-18 for almost 10 years in a variety of settings including a school based therapist for elementary and middle school children at CMC-Randolph Behavioral Health Center providing individual, group and family therapy.  At the behavioral health center I also worked   as a qualified professional providing case management and crisis intervention to children and their families in their homes.  I spent several years working with the homeless population, specifically as a supervisor and counselor at a local homeless shelter here in Charlotte for children and adolescents. I also provided outreach in the community and the local homeless shelters to work with mothers and small children on accessing community resources, education and housing through a non-profit agency.

I have lived in NC for almost 12 years, originally from western New York.  I have been happily married for 6 years with two children, Emily who is 2 months old and Alex who is 3 years old.

*I have been awarded Mastery Certification for The Basic Course on Greenspan DIR/Floortime Approach (tm)
