I have extensive experience working with young children and families in a variety of settings and nothing is more rewarding than being an Infant Mental Health/Child and Family Therapist with Carolina Parenting Solutions, PLLC. I always look forward to building trusting, professional working relationships with each family that I serve. I am passionate about promoting positive parent-child interactions, healthy child development and building upon parental competencies. I look forward to learning about your child and your family’s experiences as well as the journey that has brought you to Carolina Parenting Solutions, PLLC. I am dedicated to providing thoughtful, compassionate, individualized psychotherapy to help meet the needs, concerns, and priorities of your family. I will provide a warm, caring, safe, and trusting environment in the comfort of your home.
Behavioral, emotional and developmental issues can be stressful and overwhelming for the entire family. In my work I am always sure to involve parents in the process. I see parents as allies in the treatment process and will work with you to help you better understand your child’s needs and concerns and to find more effective ways to respond to these concerns and achieve a greater sense of well being. I believe that parents are the experts regarding your own children, and parents know their children better than anyone else. Therefore, utilizing parents’ knowledge and expertise is a vital part of helping make positive changes and I feel honored to be welcomed into your home to be part of this process. I understand that what may work in helping one child and his or her family meet their goals may not work for another.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with almost 10 years of experience working with young children and their families in a variety of mental health settings. I earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and a Masters of Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work. I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). In addition to having extensive experience working with young children and their families I have developed, managed and worked directly with programs large and small, public and private and have conducted research in areas of infant parent psychotherapy and behavioral and emotional challenges of children in foster care. I also supervise and train aspiring Infant Mental Health Specialists. I have lived in North Carolina for almost 4 years, originally from Western Massachusetts. I am happily married and a proud parent of two beautiful children. By experiencing the joy of motherhood myself I am passionately drawn to this field in hopes of empowering other parents while strengthening relationships and helping others find joy in parenting.
*I have been awarded Mastery Certification for The Basic Course on Greenspan DIR/Floortime Approach (tm)
