With over twenty-five years of experience working with young children and their families, I absolutley love getting an opportunity to help other parents support, nurture and teach their young children with a balance of healthy discipline and positive nurturance.  I can bring professional parenting support to your home.  I am happy to be a native Tarheel. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Masters of Social Work from the University of North Carolina.  I was honored to be selected as a National Institute of Mental Health, Clinical Social Work Fellow at Yale University's Yale Child Study Center.  There, my passion and expertise in working with young children and their parents was ignited.  I am trained in multiple modes of clinical intervention including such approaches as psychoanalytic psychotherapy, family systems, cognitive behavioral therapies, parent-infant psychotherapy, play therapy and others. 

*I am trained and certified in infant toddler developmental assessments (IDA). 

*I am Certified by the North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program as a Infant Toddler Specialist & Infant-Toddler Certification Reviewer.

*I have been awarded Mastery Certification for The Basic Course on Greenspan DIR/Floortime Approach (tm)

I have developed, managed and worked directly with programs large and small, public and private for foster care, adoption, out-patient psychotherapy, parent education, infant-toddler developmental assessments and most recently infant-toddler mental health.  I have presented and trained professionals in North Carolina and at National Training Institutes. 

Helping parents understand the forces of child development in concert with their own child's personality, temperament, resiliency and need for positive attachment and security lie at the heart of my work. 

I have been married for 18 years.  I have a passion for working with your children.  However, always first, I am a joyful mother of four! growing children.  I know the challenges facing families today.  I know I can help you to understand the challenges your child is facing in his or her development, social-emotional health and behaviors.  I can help you take charge, get back to basics and bring joy to your parenting.
